Aims & Objectives

The main objective of the Grundtvig Partnership Project 'Active Citizenship for Migrants', is preparing adult migrants for active participation in socials, political and cultural life in different European countries. The Project's aim is to create common model of European Active Citizenship and organise a cycle of seminars and workshops for adult migrants in each Partner's country. The Project would also like to encourage the use of ICT tools in teaching methods. The seminars should embrace traditional and modern teaching methods, by integrating ICT.

The main activities of the Project are:
• Preparing a common model of European Active Citizenship.
• Preparing a common educational programme for adult migrants.
• Exchanging good practices between teachers/trainers and adult students
• Teaching about tolerance, European social skills and competences, intercultural education and active citizenship.
• Creating virtual European Meeting Point for students and teachers.
• Introducing new possibilities of using ICT in school and in the workplace.
• Learning basic ICT skills: Internet, Word, Excel, Power Point etc.
• Producing basic activities, for example: use of the basic communication platform through the Internet, various databases, debating forums etc.
• Exchange programmes for the trainers and adult students.

The expected impact on the learners and other staff participating in the Project, will be connected directly with the main activities that will be accomplished during the Project:
• Preparing common model of European Active Citizenship.
• Preparing common educational programme for adult migrants.
• Teaching trainers how to teach about tolerance, intercultural education, social skills, and active citizenship.
• Exchanging experiences and good practices between students and trainers.
• Learning about ICT, and using basic ICT skills to enable trainers to teach about European Active Citizenship more effectively.

The definition of Migrants in this Project is considered to be EU Nationals that live in another EU country. They may be workers, or seeking work. They may just decide to spend their retirement in another EU country. Whatever their reasons for living in another country, other than their native country are, these Migrants may feel insecure and socially excluded in the culture of their host country. This Project's aims are to develop social sensitiveness for Migrant's problems within the EU, and to encourage better understanding of being an Active Citizen.

The Project will also have impact on the organisations participating in the Learning Partnership and on the local communities. The Project's aims are to create appropriate educational programmes which would be used by other institutions that have contact with adult Migrants, and local adults.

The Project is expected to contribute to a general model of teaching and learning in adult education. The educational programme could be modified to accommodate different educational systems in accordance to each EU country.

The assessment of the Project's impact will be initially assessed on each national level in relation to each respective community or region where each organisation is located. These results will therefore be easily understood and transferred to other regions and modified according to each local need.
